Engineering and Construction
Fathom Research integrates into the field of engineering with structural inspection expertise. In addition to our first-rate photo and video capabilities (detailed under scientific investigations), Fathom maintains nondestructive testing (NDT) capabilities which include:
- Ultrasonic thickness gauging
- Hydrocarbon detection using UV fluorescence technology
- Bathycorrometer measurement
In addition, the staff of Fathom Research has successfully completed the Operator Qualification and Safety Group (OQSG) training program relating to underwater pipeline inspections. This training is required of the Department of Transportation Operator Qualification Rule (49 CFR Parts 195 and 192), as it imposes a set of operational standards for performing tasks relating to pipeline inspection.
The staff of Fathom Research has also successfully completed the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA)-approved training course Underwater Bridge Inspection (FHWA-NHI-130091). This course satisfies the latest update to the National Bridge Inspection Standards (NBIS) which became effective January 13, 2005, and requires bridge inspection training for all divers conducting underwater inspections.
Fathom Research is also equipped for underwater welding and burning. Additionally Fathom Research is equipped with a full range of underwater hydraulic equipment. |
