Fathom Research provides gravity and slide hammer coring services to obtain high quality cores of the water-sediment interface. The core head drives clear, polycarbonate barrels into sediments, resulting in long cores with minimal effort and sample compression.
Fathom Research also provides an in-house designed and built sediment video probe for which we are currently seeking a patent. The device probes into the sediment, in a method similar to a water jet. However, the probe contains a video component which allows all materials jetted into and past the probe head to be viewed and identified. All video is recorded to DVD with diver/topside audio communications. In addition, the burial depths of the sediment layers or sub sediment targets are identified by the diver and recorded topside.
In regard to sediment dredging and trenching needs, Fathom Research can supply a Dredging Reclamation System powered by a 9hp, 350 gallon per minute Honda Dredge Pump.
All field personnel have 40-hour OSHA Health and Safety certification for HAZMAT sediment sampling operations.
